The go al of the workshop is to provide a sense of when one would use linear mixe d models and some standard techniques to implement them in R.\n\nAt the en d of this workshop\, you will be able to\n > Know some basic information on how to identify if a data-set is ill-suited for standard linear models\, and mixed models are better\n > Understand the key concepts of linear mixed models\, and know how to combine the strengths of random effects and fixe d effects approaches into a single model\n > Implement linear mixed models in R\, interpret the results and visualize the model\n\nPre-requisites?\n > Participants of the workshop need some basic knowledge of R. For example\ , they should be able to install packages\, read in data\, select subsets of the data\, and estimate a linear regression model\n > R packages necessa ry for the analysis (install with install.packages(“package”) at R prompt) : lme4\n > Optional R package: ggplot2 (for visualization)\n > Install Rstud io\n\nDate: Monday January 31\, 2022\n Time: 1PM to 3PM\n Location: In perso n - Burnside Hall BH511 *Vaccine passport required\n Instructor: Shou (Mila ) Sun\, PhD candidate in Biostatistics\, ǾƷ.\n\nThis workshop is offer ed for free by the Faculty of Science to the ǾƷ community. Due to the limited amount of spots available\, if you sign up for a workshop and don' t show up\, you will not be allowed to attend another workshop this semest er.\n\nRegister here\n\n \n DTSTART:20220131T180000Z DTEND:20220131T200000Z SUMMARY:Linear mixed models (using R) URL:/cdsi/channels/event/linear-mixed-models-using-r-3 36945 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
