Obituary 鈥� Dr. Marc Laporta
It is with great sadness that we announce the recent passing of Dr. Marc Laporta.
Dr. Laporta was a valued member of the Department of Psychiatry for over 36 years, working at the MUHC and at the Douglas Mental Health University Institute, where he led the WHO Collaborative Center.
Throughout his distinguished career, Dr. Laporta held many roles within our Department. He founded the Early Psychosis Intervention Centre at the MUHC, contributed extensively to medical education, and successfully led a global mental health education program through the WHO Collaborative Center. In that role, he worked closely with PAHO and other WHO organizations to promote mental health literacy across Central America and other developing regions.
Dr. Laporta was not only a respected colleague but also a gifted classical guitar player. He will be deeply missed by all of us in the Department.
