MONTREAL, QUEBEC, July 31, 2020 -聽In light of聽the COVID-19 pandemic and with the health and well-being of the composers, musicians, jury, and audience in mind, the 2020 edition of the Graham Sommer Competition for Young Composers (GSC) has been postponed until聽September 2021.听听听
Dr. Graham Sommer鈥檚 intention for this competition was to create works with the potential to connect with the concert-going public, and we are confident that this decision聽supports his聽vision.聽聽

Twenty-six-year-old bassist, composer, and arranger (MMus 鈥�19) has been named this year鈥檚 ! Performing at various events and bars since the age of 16, Carl has travelled with his art through Quebec and France as a solo artist, as well as alongside other musicians and bands of all kinds.

Analytical Essays on Music by Women Composers: Concert Music, 1960鈥�2000 by Laurel Parsons and Dean Brenda Ravenscroft has won the in the book category! An adjudicator of the award praised the book for its incredible and necessary research and was specifically impressed with the original and rigorous analysis of music by women composers.
This year鈥檚聽Virtual Convocations聽took place June 17-18. As is customary in 海角精品黑料鈥檚 traditional graduation ceremonies, these virtual convocations featured short musical performances including a recording of 海角精品黑料鈥檚 Hail, Alma Mater, a song that has been sung by the late Prof. Winston Purdy, Prof. Tracy Smith Bessette, and now, .
