Courses

The training consists of two courses at each level. Students must pass both courses to move to the next level.

Please note that the content of all our courses is exclusively in French and focuses on the approach to health care professionals.

  • Virtual face-to-face courses (synchronous mode) are delivered by a teacher on a fixed date, at a specific time, three hours per week, for a period of 8 weeks. These courses focus on oral communication.
  • Self-directed online courses(asynchronous mode) are divided into 4 modules spread out over an 8-week period. Each module lasts approximately two weeks and consists in structured learning units that allow students to work independently (lessons, exercises, pronunciation, listening, reference material, etc.) and to communicate with a tutor.

If you already have a placement test result or you are a returning program student, you can register online here:

How to Register

  1. Take a placement test

All new participants must write a French Placement Test to be placed into the appropriate level. Students can take the test once per session and the results are valid for one year.

Beginner students who have little or no knowledge of French can fill out a waiver to be exempted from the Placement Test. Students who submit a waiver will be placed in our BASIC courses.

  2. Get your results and register online

You can access your placement test in at most 10 days after completing it.

You can then register for the courses corresponding to your test results by using the links 鈥淐ourses鈥 section above.

If you encounter any problems registering for courses, you can contact us to register online. For academic advice about the courses, you can contact gsc.scs [at] mcgill.ca.
