Over the past few decades, CT scans have become a mainstay of modern medicine, providing fast, detailed images that can be critical for diagnosis and treatment. Because these scans use low doses of ionizing radiation, their increasing use has prompted researchers to look more closely at their long-term effects, including on reproductive health.

Congratulations to Dr. Louise Pilote who was awarded the 2025 Margolese National Heart Disorders Prize for her transformative work on evaluating the impact of gender on health outcomes, and in particular cardiovascular disease — advancing equity-focused cardiac care globally. The Margolese National Heart Disorders Prize is awarded annually to a Canadian physician or scientist who makes outstanding contributions to the treatment, amelioration, or cure of heart disorders.
