ML crucially improved our understanding of big data in the past decade and led to many essential technologies in our daily lives\, such as speech recognition\, recommender systems\, and personal assistants. In th is workshop\, you will learn about principles of machine learning and gain practice in implementing them for the real-world problems. We will start the workshop by implementing a fundamental machine learning algorithm know n as multi-layer perceptrons to gain intuition about how machines learn. T hen\, we will cover optimization and regularization techniques to learn th e underlying principles of machine learning and discuss how we can make al gorithms more intelligent.Prerequisite(s)-聽Familiarity with Python (i.e.\, used Python and wrote couple scripts before)-聽Basic understanding of calc ulus and linear algebra (i.e.\, knowing what a matrix and derivative is)- Study the pre-workshop exercise (Intro to Google Colab & Pytorch\, estimat ed time: ~35 - 60 mins)System/Installation Requirements:聽We will do the wo rkshop exercises on Google Colab. Colab is a Jupyter Notebook-like environ ment running on your web browser developed by the Google Research team. So \, the only requirement for the workshop is having a Gmail account and bei ng signed in to your Gmail account on your preferred web browser.聽聽**IMPOR TANT NOTICE: Attendance for 海角精品黑料 graduate students and postdoctoral fell ows is subsidized by Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies. All other attendee s such as undergraduate students\, interns and/or graduate students from o ther institutions are required to purchase a ticket to cover organizationa l and staffing costs. To complete your registration\, you must e-transfer $10 (undergraduate student/trainee) $25 (staff) or $100 (faculty) to works hop-micm [at] mcgill.ca within 24 hours of RSVP'ing to this event.
