Based on a qualitative study conducted in Hong Kong and the Ph ilippines between 2010 and 2018\, this talk expands current theorizations of global circuits by empirically revealing the asymmetries in the mobilit y of transnational professionals and transnational low-wage workers. It de monstrates the emergence of “unbound and bound spheres of globalization” i n which the formal circuits of professional expatriates and business trave lers are indeed unbound and global in scope while their low-wage counterpa rts in Asian global cities\, which includes Filipina sex workers\, are mor e than likely to only circulate within a bound “regional pocket of free tr avel” in Asia.\n DTSTART:20191112T200000Z DTEND:20191112T220000Z LOCATION:Peel 3487\, CA\, QC\, Montreal\, H3A 1W7\, 3487 rue Peel SUMMARY:Unbound and Bound Spheres of Globalization: Borders\, Markets and A symmetries in Global Mobility.
