Professor Jean-Marie Dufour Receives Prestigious Mike McCracken Award

The Department of Economics is proud to announce that Professor Jean-Marie Dufour has been selected as the recipient of the 2025 Mike McCracken Award for econometric statistics from the Canadian Economic Association. This prestigious award recognizes Professor Dufour's groundbreaking contributions to the field of econometrics, particularly his pioneering work in resampling and simulation-based methods, identification-robust methods, and the analysis of causal relationships. His development of local projection methodology has become an essential tool in macroeconomic analysis, now widely used by the Bank of Canada, federal government departments, and academic institutions across the country. Beyond his research excellence, Professor Dufour has been instrumental in building Canada's econometric community through his mentorship of students and colleagues and his leadership of the Canadian Econometric Study Group. Prof Dufour was presented with the award at the 2025 Canadian Economic Association meeting.
