Biography: 

Dr. Shaheen-Hussain is a racialized second-generation settler who works as a pediatric emergency physician in Tio鈥檛ia:ke (Montr茅al), located on the unceded lands and waters of the Kanien鈥檏eh谩:ka Nation. He is an associate professor in the Department of Pediatrics and an associate member of the School of Population and Global Health. He has been involved in anti-authoritarian social justice movements for over two decades, and is currently an active member of the Caring for Social Justice Collective. Samir is a regular contributor to the "Point de Vue" series at Le Devoir, and is the author of the award-winning book "Fighting for A Hand to Hold: Confronting Medical Colonialism against Indigenous Children in Canada" (foreword by Cindy Blackstock; afterword by Katsi鈥檛sakwas Ellen Gabriel). He is currently enrolled in the MSc program in the Department of History within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Universit茅 de Montr茅al.
