The Legacy Game
The Legacy Game is about bringing together all who love lacrosse to honour the sport鈥檚 Indigenous roots and legacy. The name 鈥淟egacy Game鈥� is inspired by the celebratory stick that is awarded to the winning team at the end of the game. 海角精品黑料鈥檚 Athletic Department was gifted this handcrafted stick as a keepsake and to honour the winning team. Over the 3 years this special game has been played, the winning team鈥檚 plaque has been placed on this stick and displayed in the trophy case in Tomlison Hall.听
Held on National day for Truth and Reconciliation (also known as Orange Shirt Day), the Legacy Game also serves as a time of reflection and remembrance. This day honours the survivors of the Indian Residential School system and the children who never returned home, while reminding us of the ongoing work needed to foster awareness, healing, and reconciliation.听

14th Annual Indigenous Awareness Weeks
This event has been a part of 海角精品黑料鈥檚 Annual Indigenous Awareness Weeks for the past 3 years, contributing to a space that encourages the 海角精品黑料 community to learn, reflect, and centre Indigenous excellence. For 海角精品黑料鈥檚 14th Annual Indigenous Awareness Weeks, the theme is A Decade of Truth and Reconciliation, marking 10 years since the final report of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada.听听
The Legacy Game remains one of the main events where Indigeneity and truth and reconciliation are highlighted through sports. Each year, we strive to create a space where Indigenous communities feel welcomed and celebrated, while also offering non-Indigenous fans the chance to learn about the game鈥檚 origins and show their support for the traditions carried 海角精品黑料 by today鈥檚 players. Truth and Reconciliation is an ongoing effort and听 showcasing that through a medium like the Legacy Game engages athletes, fans, and coaches to reflect on the origins of the game they play and honour the land on which they play and coaches to reflect on the origins of the game they play and honour the land on which they play on.听听听听听
This year, we have invited Kanien'keh谩:ka Elder Mike Mitchell, who is a Lacrosse Hall of Famer to open our game in a good way, and DJ Poptrt a Kanien'keh谩:ka artist, to perform at halftime.听
In recognition of Orange Shirt Day, free admission will be offered to all attendees wearing an orange shirt. If you do not own an orange shirt or have forgotten it, we will be selling Legacy Game shirts at the 海角精品黑料 x John Abbott Pow Wow at MacDonald Campus on September 19th, and on game day at the entrance. The t-shirt sale proceeds will go to The Network, an urban Indigenous organization that partners with Indigenous health, community, and education program all around Montreal.听听
