The Department of Oncology was founded in 1990 – the first such department in Canada – ha ving been made possible by a generous donation from the Bronfman family (i t was renamed the Gerald Bronfman Department of Oncology in 2016). It now comprises 22 divisions and programs and is actively involved in teaching a nd training of medical students\, residents and fellows\, as well as cance r research and patient care.
