Biography: 

Dr. Jesse Papenburg practices pediatric infectious diseases and medical microbiology and is a mid-career investigator. He earned his medical degree from º£½Ç¾«Æ·ºÚÁÏ and completed residency and subspecialty training at the Montreal Children's Hospital. He then pursued a research fellowship focused on the molecular virology of RNA respiratory viruses at Laval University and completed a Master’s degree in epidemiology at º£½Ç¾«Æ·ºÚÁÏ.

As a clinician scientist, Dr. Papenburg’s work centers on the epidemiology of viral respiratory infections. He has authored over 175 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters and has secured more than $3 million in personally attributable research funding. He is Vice-Chair of the Pediatric Investigators Collaborative Network on Infections in Canada () and Co-Director of the . In 2022, his scientific outreach, commentary and health advocacy in lay media (~500 interviews since 2020) were recognized with the .

Since 2019, Dr. Papenburg has served as a voting member of the National Advisory Committee on Immunization, where he leads the influenza working group. In 2025, he was appointed Chair of the Quebec Immunization Committee at the Institut national de santé publique du Québec.
